Green Foamies have arrived and we are now just waiting on the SR and evolve compatible pulleys to fit the new larger cores. These are due in about 1 weeks time.
The hotly anticipated backpack is on the sea and due in 2-3 weeks time. We don’t expect any further delays but clearance at the port is very slow at the moment. As soon as they arrive we can begin to ship European orders.
We thought it best to post this all in one blog to keep you up to date. Times have been tough recently and we hadn’t anticipated the additional issues with shipping.
Our manufacturer has been hard at work over the past few months getting our initial batch of bags ready. Production is scheduled to wrap up this week then it’s on to our strict quality control, everything passed with flying colours in the mid-production checks so we don’t expect to see any additional delays here. As soon as QC is over they bags will be headed our straight into the hands of everyone who pre-ordered!
The image above is just a few photos from the manufacturing process and you can find out more about the bag and place your pre-order below.
Slick Revolution Electric Skateboard Bag / Rucksack
Our all-new ESK8 rucksack. Dissatisfied with what the market has to offer we decided to do it ourselves.
Slick Revolution is proud to bring Thousand® to our range of safety gear. A stylish design alongside certified safety meant we just had to bring them to our SR riders.
Here’s some information about Thousand® from their founder :
Before starting Thousand, I never wore a helmet, even though I was a longtime cyclist. They were too bulky, too inconvenient, and too futuristic-looking. But when I lost a friend to a fatal bike accident, I knew I had to change. Instead of settling for the “sci-fi” looking helmets on the market, I got to work designing one.
We named our company “Thousand” as a promise – a commitment and a goal of helping to save 1000 lives by making helmets people actually want to wear. Our name serves as a daily reminder of why we do what we do.
Safety is why we started Thousand. We launched on Kickstarter in 2015, and I’m still grateful for each and every order that we ship, because it means another rider that’s choosing to be safe by wearing a Thousand helmet. Every time a member of our community writes to us, letting us know their helmet kept them safe in an accident, we’re inspired to do even more and keep more riders safe on the road.
We started from the beginning with a human-centred design process, crafting a vintage moto-inspired lid that you’d actually want to wear.
Not just a good looking shell – from day one, we set out to keep people safe and curb the impact of bike related accidents. Our lids are fully certified and meticulously crafted to do just that.
From our carbon offset program to our partnership with 1% For The Planet, Thousand is committed to making quality gear without causing unnecessary harm to our planet.
Our design philosophy has placed style, convenience, and safety as the fundamental concepts in our product development process. We develop our skateboard helmet through a human-centered process, crafting the best skateboard helmet – one that you’ll actually want to wear.
Skateboard helmet features
Magnetic buckle – one-hand fastener, pinch-free, safety certified, German engineered
Dial fit system – easily adjustable fit system
Vegan leather straps – eco-friendly, microfibre vegan leather straps to help stay comfortable and sweat-free, made with animals and the environment in mind
Vents – effective but subtle air vents to keep you cool
There are some truly awesome boards on the market these days and with Slick Revolution being self-funded it can be tough to keep up with so many advancements in technology coming through. SR have been working extremely hard to bring the new esk8 bag to market as well as focussing on expanding throughout Europe. Working alongside a single manufacturer can be tough for a number of reasons (we can discuss over a beer next time we meet on a ride). With so many great eboards coming out of China at the moment and squeezing the big boys, namely boosted, we decided to take a small turn in our business trajectory. With well over 20 original manufacturers in China and around 50 rebrands, we’ve had the chance to monitor reviews, gather feedback and really see what people are riding, loving and rating in their eboard adventures. We’ve picked the best of the best and will be stocking these eboards in the UK. Exway and Ownboard.
What’s missing from all these great reviews?
Well that’s the support and customer service. Something our 225, 5 star Trustpilot reviews and 1000’s of customers will agree with. Selling even the best eboards halfway around the world means it is difficult to keep up with support, repairs are costly and language barriers can make solving these issues difficult. We hope to eliminate this sticking point altogether.
Boosted Killer? The most overused term in electric skateboard Youtube thumbnails? Perhaps, but the Exway has some pretty neat whistles and bells that put it somewhere near the top of the esk8 food chain. Swappable batteries, choice of drive train, a flexible deck and an app with continued support and IP55 rating. There’s plenty more to it and you can find all the info on the Exway and pre-order below.
Ownboard uses the hobbywing ESC which is renowned for its simplicity and super smooth acceleration and braking curves. As well as this it offers both our Foamies wheel options and the ownboard airless tyres/AT option. A 10s battery gives plenty of oomph and off-road capability too. Check out the ownboard pre-order below.
With the range of SR eboard, Exway and Ownboard in our arsenal we truly have something for everyone. Plus with unrivaled support and customer service, should the worst happen, you’ll never be stuck without a repair, fix or advice on the phone right here in the UK.
(before I forget, we have something else up our sleeves too but we can’t give too much away for now!) We will keep you posted!
Down at the SR HQ we’ve put up a string data wall to show why and what board our customers ride. All responses to the form below will be added to the wall so you’ll have your own little part of our office!
110mm Rough Stuff wheels and 120mm Foamies are designed in the UK to combat our less than ideal riding surfaces. When we released the RS wheels in 2018 they became the biggest polyurethane wheel available for skateboards worldwide, only overtaken by the Foamies in 2019 which are the new holders of this title.
A larger diameter wheel allows you to roll over bumps, cracks and manhole covers much easier than standard skateboard wheels. The convex profile of both wheels also helps with this by pushing rocks out of the way instead of stopping you dead in your tracks.
Both wheels use the same ABEC style core so if your board fits this pulley style it’s likely compatible with all 3 of our wheel options. With the exception of more traditional style decks like the urban kick which have some of the deck about the wheels, to avoid wheel bite you will need our larger risers and bolts.
The main two differences are the diameter and the foam core. The Foamies come in at 120mm instead of 110mm, this only adds 1-2mph to your top speed but helps smoothen out the bumps and allows us to have a thicker foam layer inside.
Another world first for skateboard wheels is the addition of the foam core. One of the main quibbles of eboarding are the vibrations and numb feet you get after riding at speed for a few miles, this is where Foamies are unlike any other wheel. They soak up the majority of vibrations passed through the board which makes riding for long periods much more manageable. Mike Boyd managed 60miles in one day with only solar power using the Foamies!
The Bag Design is finalised and we will be placing an order very soon. We hope to have them in stock in May/June 2020 if not sooner.
We appreciate that some customers have pre-ordered the bag some time ago and we apologise for delays in production. This is our 5th iteration of the electric skateboard bag since the first design and we are extremely proud to launch this on to the market.
We took every skate bag on the market, asked people what they liked and disliked and created something truly unique and truly functional.
We began with the Electric Purple Foamies and soon after released the Atomic Orange Foamies and now we would like to introduce you to the
GO GREEN FOAMIES.
So whats different about the Go Green Foamies?
As Slick Revolution encourages the the world to be a greener place we couldn’t think of a better way that to give a little back to the planet. For every set of Go Green Foamies purchased around the world we will plant 4 trees. Not one per set, but one per wheel! So not only will you be reducing your carbon footprint ditching the car for your eboard but you’ll be making a positive change to the world and carbon off setting too.
The Go Greens will be available in the new year and feature a black foam core and translucent green 78A urethane. Think lighter coloured emerald which constantly changes depending on the light levels.
They really do look great and make you feel greater.
